Travelling Exhibition "A highway behind the wall socket"

"A highway behind the wall socket" is an interactive exhibition through which visitors can, on the one hand, gain a better understanding of the role that Red Eléctrica plays in the Spanish electricity system and, on the other hand, learn about the most noteworthy projects that the Company has carried out in the territory where the exhibition is on display.

Geographic scope

From 2010 to 2020 the exhibition has toured and been exhibited at the following museums: Science Museum of Granada, Science Museum of Logroño (Casa de las Ciencias), Science Museum of Valladolid, Elder Museum of Science and Technology in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the Science Museum of Seville (Casa de la Ciencia), Museu de la Ciència i de la Tècnica de Catalunya, Casal Solleric in Palma de Mallorca, Museu de les Ciències in Valencia and Palexco in A Coruña.

Results

Over 300,000 people have visited the exhibition.

Dissemination of information to visitors on how the Spanish electricity system works and on the most relevant Red Eléctrica projects. In addition, at the end of the tour, the visitor becomes aware that energy efficiency is something in which everyone plays an important role.

The exhibition has been chosen by the Directorate-General for Energy of the European Commission as one of the five best practices of European TSO's to improve the understanding of the need to develop electricity transmission facilities, and as such foster their social acceptance.
