Creation of Red Eléctrica as the first TSO in the world.
1997
Development of the first electricity interconnection with Morocco.
1997
The Company begins its own fibre optic development within the national electricity grid in Spain.
1999
The Company was privatised and was listed on the Spanish Stock Exchange through an IPO.
2001
Creation of Red Eléctrica Internacional for investments in projects abroad.
2004
Red Eléctrica listed in the IBEX 35.
2006
Creation of the Control Centre of Renewable Energies (CECRE).
2008
Creation of Inelfe, jointly owned in equal shares with RTE, to carry out interconnection projects between Spain and France.
2015
Reintel created to boost the telecommunications business: operation of the fiber optic networks of Red Eléctrica and ADIF.
2015
Commissioning of the Spain-France cross-border connection.
2016
Electricity transmission grid management activities commenced in Chile.
2019
Creation of Elewit, Redeia’s technological platform.
2020
Beginning of our electricity transmission activity in Brazil.

Work begins on the Salto de Chira, the first major energy storage system in the Canary Islands.

Submarine laying of the new electricity link between Eivissa and Formentera.

Work begins on the first underwater interconnection between Spain and France via the Bay of Biscay

Red Eléctrica achieves the largest investment in its history. TSO investments exceed €1.1 billion.

Red Eléctrica is working on the recovery of pylons damaged by the DANA in the province of Valencia
