Born on 13 July 1968.

Holder of a licentiate in Economics and Business Studies from the University Centre for Financial Studies (CUNEF), affiliated with Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Full Professor of Applied Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies at (UNED).

 

Currently:

  • Full Professor of Applied Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies, UNED.
  • Principal researcher of the Sustainable Finance and Social Responsibility (FINRES), UNED.
  • Member of the board of trustees of ICO Foundation and the Economists Without Borders Foundation.
  • Participation on the International Commission of Experts on Corporate Social Responsibility, established in Spain, Ministry of Labor and Social Economy.

He has been (among other positions):

  • Director of the department of applied Economics (2022-2026).
  • Coordinator of the official inter-university Master's degree (UNED-UJI) in Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility. (2015-2022)
  • Vice-Rector for Planning and Economic Affairs at the UNED for five years (from 2005 to 2009 and from 2012 to 2013).
  • Department head of the Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability programme at the UNED, sponsored by Telefónica S.A. (2009-2015)
  • Board member of the listed company Banca Cívica (June 2011–June 2012) and as Chair of its Social Responsibility Committee (the company was taken over by CaixaBank in 2012).
  • Participation as an expert advisor on the State Council for Corporate Social Responsibility, attached to the Ministry of Employment and Social Security, and member of the University Social Responsibility Commission under the General Secretariat of Universities.
  • Director of the microfinance management programme funded by the Inter-American Development Bank and run by the BBVA Microfinance Foundation, delivered both online and in person across several Latin American countries. 
  • Participation in different public and private technical and advisory committees.

Other information of interest:

35 years’ teaching experience at the UNED at bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels. She has also led numerous summer and continuing education courses, as well as massive open online courses (MOOCs), and has appeared on various financial television and radio programmes, and she collaborates with several Spanish universities on postgraduate training programmes which has allowed her to supervise 15 doctoral theses.

She has four research cycles and one transfer cycle recognized by the National Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity (CNEAI) and more than thirty academic publications in high-impact scientific journals in the field of finance and Sustainability.
