Red Eléctrica, the Redeia company responsible for electricity transmission and operation of the electrical system in Spain, has signed two collaboration agreements with the Maruri-Jatabe Town Council to support sustainable initiatives in the municipality.

These initiatives are part of Redeia's Comprehensive Impact Strategy, which aims for a positive impact on local communities by supporting sustainable projects that foster social development, environmental protection, and the efficient use of energy.

With a total budget of €690,000, the two agreements cover the installation of solar panels on various Town Council buildings and the acquisition of electric vehicles.

Red Eléctrica will contribute €600,000 to install panels on the municipal swimming pool building – enabling a grid connection for shared self-consumption – as well as on the roofs of the multi-sports court and the municipality's fronton court, adjacent to the old municipal schools. This initiative aims to generate electricity from solar radiation, reducing the municipality's electricity consumption from non-renewable sources. Notably, the collaboration also includes a preliminary phase involving the roofing of the outdoor sports facilities so that the solar panels can subsequently be installed.

Furthermore, Red Eléctrica will contribute €90,000 towards the acquisition of two electric vehicles to carry out municipal service operations.

These agreements were signed within the framework of the electrical interconnection with France via the Bay of Biscay. This project aims to improve the security and guarantee of supply, increase the efficiency of both electricity systems, and allow for a greater integration and exchange of renewable energies. This interconnection project was declared a Project of Common Interest (PCI) by the European Commission and the European Parliament.

Red Eléctrica is an environmentally and socially responsible company, supporting sustainable projects that promote social development, environmental protection, and efficient energy use.
