We are a global operator of essential infrastructure
- The initiative is part of Redeia's Comprehensive Impact Strategy, which seeks to generate a positive impact on the region, the environment, and the people
Redeia, through its subsidiary Red Eléctrica – responsible for the operation and transmission of the electricity system in Spain – has contributed to the renewal and improvement of the water supply network in Valle de Cerrato (Palencia). This initiative will reduce water leaks, optimise the use of water resources, and consequently lower the municipal supply bill.
This action is part of Redeia's Comprehensive Impact Strategy, which aims to promote a positive environmental and social impact in the areas where it develops its infrastructure.
Through an agreement signed by the Valle de Cerrato Town Council and Red Eléctrica, the Redeia subsidiary has contributed approximately €15,000. This funding has already been used to execute improvement works on the water supply network along the section running from the municipal reservoir to the tank, benefiting its 89 residents.
The action is linked to the expansion of the 400 kV Cerrato substation, which features a new bay for the evacuation of renewable energy. This project is part of the electricity planning set out by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITERD) – which is binding for Red Eléctrica – and seeks to guarantee a stable electricity supply for this area of Castilla y León. At the same time, it aims to generate benefits for the municipality and improve the system's capacity to absorb future energy demands.
