We are a global operator of essential infrastructure
- Redeia’s subsidiary has invested €150,000 toward a project to upgrade facilities for sports, recreational and extracurricular activities.
Red Eléctrica, Redeia’s subsidiary responsible for the transmission and operation of the electricity system in Spain, has contributed to the refurbishment and improvement of the children’s recreational and leisure area at the primary school CEIP Dionisio Bueno in Abanilla (Murcia). This initiative is part of the Comprehensive Impact Strategy by Redeia, aimed at delivering a positive environmental and social impact in the territories where the company operates.
The project was formalised through an agreement with the Town Council, signed in February 2025. The goal of this collaboration was to improve the well-being of children and teenagers in the town by upgrading facilities for sports, recreational and extracurricular activities.
The playground areas —now renovated and equipped with shade structures and outdoor furniture such as bins and benches— host activities that complement the school curriculum when the school is closed, particularly during holidays. These spaces also support work-life balance initiatives, including early-morning programmes and children’s play centres. In addition, the different playground areas are used for themed workshops and traditional games organised by the Abanilla Town Council. These activities, designed for local children, aim to promote the municipality’s customs and traditions.
The works were completed during the Christmas holidays and included repaving and the installation of water drainage systems in the school’s rear courtyard, an area designated for the youngest students.
During a visit to the renovated facilities, Maite Vela, Redeia’s delegate for Eastern Spain, expressed her satisfaction with the completion of the works, to which Red Eléctrica allocated €150,000. She highlighted that projects under the Comprehensive Impact Strategy ‘are born out of active listening in the territories where Red Eléctrica operates and always seek to deliver a net positive impact, going beyond regulatory compliance and corporate social responsibility.’
Meanwhile, mayor José Antonio Blasco emphasised that Red Eléctrica 'has demonstrated its commitment to our municipality and its alignment with the objectives of the local government through this significant investment in improving the school playground —an initiative that clearly reflects a commitment to education by creating safer spaces that directly enhance the well-being of the youngest members of our community.'
