As part of the Red Eléctrica Forest project being carried out in the municipality of Albacete
Red Eléctrica organises a series of training sessions on environmental education and reforestation in Hellín

Red Eléctrica de España has organized a series of training sessions on environmental education in Hellín (Albacete), in collaboration with the town council of the locality, coinciding with the “Red Eléctrica Forest” Week held from 15 to 18 January. The sessions, in which 315 volunteers participated, were targeted at school students and neighbours of Hellin and its districts, with the aim of raising awareness of the population on the importance of conservation of natural areas.

Scheduled activities included an explanation of the reforestation project that, with an investment of 200,000 euros, Red Eléctrica is carrying out in 109 hectares of this locality affected by forest fires and desertification processes, and the planting of 2,550 trees and shrubs.

The Red Eléctrica Forest is an ongoing environmental programme carried out by the Company since 2009 with the aim of collaborating in the conservation of natural areas rich in biodiversity, the recovery of degraded areas, as well as contributing to the fight against climate change, and at the same time supporting the development of rural economies and involving local people in the conservation of their territories.

The Albacete Forest in Hellín will be the seventh project that Red Eléctrica undertakes on the Spanish peninsula after those already carried out in Badajoz, Teruel, Cádiz, Murcia, Valencia and Vizcaya. This ongoing initiative, with an investment that already exceeds one million euros, responds to the commitment made by the Company to collaborate with regional governments for sustainable economic and social development, the defence and protection of the environment, and the promotion of progress, culture and social welfare as an essential channel for creating value in areas where the Company is present.
