Red Eléctrica Corporación has consolidated its position in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the Dow Jones Sustainability Index Europe according to the results of the 2016 edition reported today.
The Company has obtained an overall score of 90 points out of 100, improving the results of the previous year, leading nine areas of sustainability, and only one point short of the leading company in its sector, Electric Utilities.
The assessment is based on economic, environmental and social criteria, according to the analysis performed by the RobecoSAM agency. Red Eléctrica has obtained 87 points in the economic dimension, 88 in environmental and 97 social.
In the economic dimension, the Company has consolidated its leadership in the field of ethics management and legal compliance obtaining the highest score. Also noteworthy is the progress made concerning risk management and crisis management criteria and in the management of the supply chain by minimising the ethical, labour, environmental and health and safety risks of their suppliers.
Red Eléctrica has obtained the highest score in five of the six areas assessed in the environmental dimension. The Company remains committed to the fight against climate change with actions such as improving the comprehensive management of the use of SF6 and the implementation of the Sustainable Mobility Plan to reduce the emissions of the Company.
The result obtained in the social dimension places Red Eléctrica as an industry leader in this field. Several initiatives have been recognised such as the development of a model of shared value based on actions that have a positive impact on territory and its inhabitants. Also valued were the actions that promote and protect the health, well-being and safety of employees, and that of talent management.
Red Eléctrica joined the Dow Jones Sustainability indexes in 2005, in response to its commitment to sustainability and its firm backing for transparency.
