Redeia contributes to energy efficiency in Moreruela de Tábara (Zamora)

Redeia, through Red Eléctrica – the subsidiary responsible for the operation and transmission of the electricity system – has collaborated with the Moreruela de Tábara Town Council (Zamora) to improve the municipality's energy efficiency.

The project is part of Redeia's Comprehensive Impact Strategy, which aims to generate a positive impact on local communities by supporting sustainable projects that promote social development, environmental protection, and the efficient use of energy.

The initiative involves installing 41 LED lights in the public lighting system of Moreruela and another 48 in the district of Santa Eulalia. This will improve the town's energy efficiency while simultaneously reducing the Town Council's electricity bill.

The collaboration is backed by an investment of €27,900, through which Redeia is helping to facilitate the ecological transition while leaving a positive footprint on the region. In this case, the 288 residents of the Zamora town will gain access to a more efficient energy system.

This action is linked to the expansion of the 400 kV Tábara substation, which is being upgraded with a new bay for the evacuation of renewable energy and a new reactor. The objective of both infrastructure projects, which are included in the current Electricity Transmission Grid Plan, is to provide this area of Castilla y León with a stable electricity system and improve its capacity to absorb future energy demands.
