Redeia's regional manager in Illes Baleares, Eduardo Maynau, and the Mayor of the Ibiza City Council, Rafael Triguero, formalised a collaboration agreement this Monday under which Red Eléctrica's parent company will fully finance the improvement works at the Platja d’en Bossa Neighbourhood Association football pitch.
This initiative is part of the Comprehensive Impact Strategy of Redeia (Red Eléctrica's parent company), which is built on collaboration through active listening to local communities. Specifically, the artificial turf on the pitch will be replaced; the perimeter fencing will be changed and repaired; and new lighting will be installed, bringing estimated energy savings of up to 60%. Additionally, a water access point will be added and internal obstacles will be removed.
The agreement, which involves a contribution of over €86,200 from Redeia, also covers the provision of new sports equipment and the replacement of the old concrete benches with polyethylene ones, offering greater safety for players.
Eduardo Maynau, Redeia’s regional manager in Islas Baleares, highlighted that this agreement reaffirms the coordination between the Ibiza City Council and Red Eléctrica regarding the works that the company – responsible for electricity transmission and system operation – is carrying out in Ibiza, such as the undergrounding of the Ibiza–Bossa power line, which has been operational since last July.
Maynau stressed that this action is yet another example of the company's involvement in developing social and environmental projects to deliver a positive social impact in the areas where its facilities are located. “Redeia likes to get involved in developing initiatives like these, which generate a return for society as a whole and represent a way of playing an active role in the community.”
Along the same lines, the Mayor of Ibiza, Rafael Triguero, stated that this project is a clear example of the Town Council's commitment to improving its neighbourhoods and maintaining local infrastructure. He expressed his “special thanks to Red Eléctrica for its involvement and collaboration with the city.” He added: “Combining the efforts of institutions and companies is fundamental to achieving a better, more cohesive Ibiza with first-class public services for everyone.”
