The Puertollano Mining Museum (Ciudad Real) inaugurated the new efficient lighting for its access path this Wednesday, thanks to a collaboration agreement between Red Eléctrica and the local Town Council. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Mayor, Miguel Ángel Ruiz Rodríguez; Redeia's regional manager in Castilla-La Mancha, Patricia Crego; and Red Eléctrica's Manager of Sur Demarcation, Ignacio Gistas.

The installation comprises 50 new solar-powered LED lights along the access path to the Museum, located on the Parque Pozo Norte road – an area stretching almost a kilometre that is heavily used by residents and visitors alike. This action, part of the Comprehensive Impact Strategy of Redeia (Red Eléctrica's parent company), improves road safety in the area while achieving energy savings and advancing the ecological transition.

Located in Parque Pozo Norte, one of the largest mining basins in the Alcudia Valley, the Puertollano Mining Museum is a key space for disseminating the historical and cultural heritage of mining activity in the region, as well as a major tourist attraction for the town. Red Eléctrica contributed approximately €60,000 to illuminate the access path, with the sum allocated entirely to financing the project.

Puertollano is a key location for Red Eléctrica in the energy development of the Central-Western peninsular area. The company maintains a firm commitment to Puertollano, where its presence guarantees a high-quality and increasingly sustainable electricity supply. It actively collaborates with public administrations and local entities on projects that add value to the region, boost energy efficiency, protect the environment, and improve the urban surroundings.

During the inauguration ceremony, the Mayor expressed his desire to “thank Red Eléctrica for its collaboration, dedication, and commitment to Puertollano. This new lighting represents a direct improvement in the safety of the area, making one of our most emblematic spaces, the Mining Museum, more accessible and attractive.” He also highlighted the importance of companies engaging in agreements “with local councils aimed at improving the quality of cities and caring for the environment.”

For her part, Redeia’s regional manager in Castilla-La Mancha, Patricia Crego, praised “Red Eléctrica's commitment to conserving and protecting the historical and cultural heritage of the municipalities where the company is present. This aligns with its 2030 Sustainability Goals, which place active contributions to society and the creation of shared value through collaboration with the communities where it operates at the very centre of its actions.”
