Redeia and Fundación Ecomar will promote environmental education in 2026 with 15 educational school workshops on marine ecosystem conservation

Redeia, the global operator of essential infrastructure, and Fundación Ecomar will hold 15 educational workshops in schools throughout Spain in 2026. Their goal is to promote environmental education and awareness on the conservation of marine ecosystems and, in particular, on Posidonia, a species endemic to the Mediterranean.

This initiative is part of Redeia's Marine Forest platform, which aims to promote the good health of the ocean through active and passive restoration actions, the transfer of scientific and technical knowledge and environmental awareness and education for the younger generations. The initiative, which is part of the company's Comprehensive Impact Strategy, aims to maximise the collective impact on the recovery of marine ecosystems and raise social awareness of their importance.

The relationship between Fundación Ecomar and Redeia began in 2024, and since then, both entities have cooperated to develop and implement initiatives in favour of marine ecosystems with environmental education activities. The collaboration during 2026 consolidates the work carried out and reinforces its educational dimension, with a special focus on raising awareness among younger generations. This line of action has become one of the strategic pillars of the Marine Forest platform due to its capacity to generate a lasting impact.

Since 2024, more than 800 schoolchildren have participated in the 'Marine Forest' educational workshops held in several provinces throughout Spain —Alicante, Almería, Barcelona, Granada, Madrid, Málaga, Mallorca and Murcia. Through these sessions, students have learned about the importance of Posidonia oceanica, a species that is essential for marine biodiversity and key to mitigating climate change due to its role as a carbon sink and its contribution to the resilience of marine ecosystems.

The workshops combine informative content with student participation in various practical activities, including an educational escape room in which students solve different puzzles that reinforce the concepts covered, promoting experiential learning.

The two entities are thus advancing their common goal of promoting specific solutions for marine conservation and fostering an environmental culture based on scientific knowledge and particular actions.
