The demand for electrical energy fell 5.1% in July

The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula in the month of July is estimated at 22,272 GWh, a value 5.1% below that registered in the same month last year. After factoring in the seasonal and working patterns, electrical energy demand on the Spanish peninsula fell 2.9% compared to July 2015.

In the first seven months of the year, demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula is estimated at 145,902 GWh, down 0.8% on the same period in 2015. After having factored in the seasonal and working patterns, demand for electrical energy was 0.4% lower than in the same period last year.

As at 29 July, generation coming from wind power reached 3,241 GWh, a value 17.3% higher than the same period last year, and represented 16% of total production.

In the month of July, using provisional data available at 29 July, generation coming from renewable energy sources represented 36.1% of production.

60% of electricity generation during the month was obtained using technologies which produce zero CO2 emissions.
