The Centro del Profesorado of Seville hosts the final of Red Eléctrica’s ‘Olimpiada entreREDes’
  • Almost 100 youngsters from 12 educational centres of Andalusia in the provinces of Cadiz, Huelva, Malaga and Seville take part in the final of the Olimpiada

The Centro del Profesorado of Seville today hosted the final of the "Olimpiada entreREDes", a championship in which ninety-six students from twelve different educational centres took part and and which was undertaken by teams of 2nd, 3rd and 4th of ESO (Secondary Compulsory Education). The General Director for Innovation from the Regional Ministry of Education of the Andalusian Government, Pedro Benzal, the Councilor for Education and Citizen Participation of the city council of Seville, Adela Castaño, and Red Eléctrica Regional Delegate in Andalusia, Miguel González, attended the closing ceremony and presented the prizes to the students of the winning schools.

The digital educational game entreREDes, created by Red Eléctrica de España, has put to a test the skills and knowledge of the students on the curricular contents in an entertaining way and, at the same time, has provided knowledge on how the Spanish electricity system works and the link that exists between electricity and social progress. Players move around a map of Spain traveling along the main power lines and substations of the electricity transmission grid as they correctly answer questions on six different academic subjects.

With more than 8,500 questions and three playing modes, entreREDes is an effective educational resource for the teacher in the classroom; an enjoyable and engaging revision tool for students to use at home, and a way of having fun that can be shared with family or friends.

The creation of the entreREDes game responds to Red Eléctrica’s commitment to the dissemination of knowledge regarding the electricity system and its overall operation, in order to provide society with information on the development of a sustainable energy model. In this regard, the education arena is a priority objective.
