Support for vulnerable groups

Red Eléctrica collaborates with various non-profit organisations and entities to carry out social support actions targeted at various groups with specific needs.

During 2019, Red Eléctrica participated in the collection of bottle caps as a contribution to the “Ladrillos solidarios” (Solidarity bricks) initiative. This project consists of the construction of several homes so that a group of adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) can soon have a home adapted to their needs provided by the CEPRI Association, a non-profit organisation that provides quality educational and rehabilitative care to children, adolescents and adults with ASD and other Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD).

Thanks to the participation of the employees who deposited the caps in the containers set up for this purpose at all the work centres, more than 1,000 kilograms were collected in 2019.

The company's involvement in cap collection is also a sign of its commitment to society and the environment in an easy and simple way.

Accompaniment of the elderly

Support for vulnerable groups

Red Eléctrica collaborates with various non-profit organisations and entities to carry out social support actions targeted at various groups with specific needs.

In 2019 and 2020, Red Eléctrica is participating in charitable initiatives with the elderly in the Orpea de Alcobendas nursing home in Madrid, as a sign of its commitment to society and to the most vulnerable groups.

The initiative, carried out on 16th December 2019 by employees of the company, consisted of reading, talking and accompanying the elderly of the nursing home, using books donated by Red Eléctrica for this cause, as a support and vehicle for dialogue and understanding.

In 2020, during the months of March and April, the employees carried out the solidarity initiative ¨Cartas contra la soledad¨ (Letters against loneliness) with the aim of offering virtual accompaniment to the elderly, a vulnerable group requiring assistance due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Support for vulnerable groups

Red Eléctrica collaborates with various non-profit organisations and entities to carry out social support actions targeted at various groups with specific needs.

In 2020, Red Eléctrica is collaborating with the Federation of Rural Women's Associations (FADEMUR) in donating more than 29,000 food rations distributed in eight autonomous communities, contributing to mitigating the crisis of small family farms.

With this initiative, framed in the project "Alimentos Solidarios” (Food Solidarity), more than 135,000 food rations were distributed in 24 provinces of 13 autonomous communities, by social organisations, to vulnerable groups and families who need assistance due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Support for groups with specific needs

Red Eléctrica collaborates with various non-profit organisations and entities to carry out social support actions targeted at various groups with specific needs.

Red Eléctrica, through its technology company and together with Enagás, CLH, Iberdrola, BP, EIT InnoEnergy, Acciona, Capital Energy and DISA, is promoting in 2020 an urgent initiative to contribute to economic and social recovery from the crisis caused by COVID-19, from the perspective of energy and through innovation.

The initiative consists of financing and supporting startups/scaleups with innovative projects through innovation, investment, commercial development and structural tools, for immediate implementation.

With this pioneering initiative in Spain, the Red Eléctrica Group reflects its solidarity in alleviating the economic and social effects of the health crisis, basing its drive on innovation and supporting projects related to the areas of environmental sustainability, mobility, social impact, digitalisation, telecommunications and 4.0.

“The Open Ventilator”

Red Eléctrica collaborates with various non-profit organisations and entities to carry out social support actions targeted at various groups with specific needs.

In 2020, Red Eléctrica and a consortium of companies supported the innovation initiative "The Open Ventilator", promoted by the association of young talents Celera and the Rey Juan Carlos University, to manufacture a new artificial ventilator safe and sturdy ventilators to protect the health of severe coronavirus patients.

¨The Open Ventilator¨ brings together the values with which the company identifies itself: a commitment to innovation, the value of Spanish researchers, technological investment and the alliance of economic, social and university forces with the common objective of helping those affected by COVID 19.

‘Libera’ Project

Environmental awareness.

Red Eléctrica collaborates with various non-profit organisations and entities to carry out social support actions targeted at various groups with specific needs.

In 2019, for the second consecutive year, Red Eléctrica with SEO Birdlife and Ecoembes in the ‘Libera’ (Releases) project, with the aim of raising awareness and mobilising citizens to keep natural areas free of rubbish.

More than 100 people, including Red Eléctrica employees and their companions, took part in these corporate volunteer days held in Barcelona, Madrid, Majorca and Seville, to collect litter that had been dropped in the chosen natural environments, which, in addition to being removed, was duly selected by type of waste for its corresponding recycling.

In 2019, Red Eléctrica participated once again in the celebration of the European Natura 2000 Day, with the largest network of protected natural areas in the European Union.

On this day, company employees raised their awareness of the wealth of protected environments, planted trees and improved signposting of natural areas in different parts around the country.

Employment School

Support for vulnerable groups.

Red Eléctrica collaborates with various non-profit organisations and entities to carry out social support actions targeted at various groups with specific needs.

Red Eléctrica has been collaborating with the Adecco Foundation since 2017 on the “Employment School” project, a professional voluntary action that seeks to improve the employability and professional integration in a normalised context of people with disabilities with high potential.

In 2019, Red Eléctrica participated as a specific corporate volunteer action in Woman’s Week, personally accompanying twelve unemployed women at risk of exclusion with special difficulties with access to employment, to contribute to improving their knowledge about the current job market situation and selection processes, and to be able to define their professional objective in a realistic, fitting manner.

During the three-day initiative, they used teamwork to define a professional goal and come up with ideas about how to succeed in an employment process, thanks to the collaboration of 11 volunteers from Red Eléctrica who provided knowledge, experience and many reflections.

‘ON A PAR’ Foundation’s CAMPUS

Red Eléctrica collaborates with various non-profit organisations and entities to carry out social support actions targeted at various groups with specific needs.

Red Eléctrica collaborated with the “A la Par” (On a Par) foundation in 2019, for the third year running, in its CAMPVS project. The aim of this is to provide a response to the need to train young people with intellectual disabilities who end their formal training and wish to go on to higher education with a higher level of personal, social and professional competence. Volunteers from the company acted as mentors to the students to help them integrate into the world of work.

The foundation works so that job opportunities meet the needs of the person and the social and business fabric.

The project involves programmes, networks and support resources, technological tools and professionals to prepare students to investigate, create and implement their own life plan.

Swimming tour around Formentera against cystic fibrosis

Red Eléctrica collaborates with various non-profit organisations and entities to carry out social support actions targeted at various groups with specific needs.

Red Eléctrica collaborated with the Respiralia Foundation since 2017 on the Swimming Tour of Formentera against Cystic Fibrosis, which the foundation organises annually together with the Islas Baleares’ Cystic Fibrosis Association. This is a non-competitive support event, held since 2000, in which the main objective is to share three days swimming with people with and without cystic fibrosis, as well as to become familiar with this disease to make it known to the rest of society. Red Eléctrica employees took part in the 2019 event held on 28, 29 and 30 June.

In 2020, Red Eléctrica is collaborating once again in the Respiralia 2020 project "Corona - Swimming tour around Formentera against cystic fibrosis" with virtual conferences held from May to September, featuring the creation of an Escape Room game as a novelty.
