We are a global operator of essential infrastructure
- In collaboration with the Casa de la Ciencia, Facultad de Ciencias de la Educación (Education Science University of Seville) and the Instituto Carmen Laffón (Secondary school) from San José de La Rinconada (Seville)
- Students will demonstrate how to build a Stirling engine or a solar cooker
Red Eléctrica de España (REE) is participating for the third consecutive year in the Science Fair to be held at the Seville Exhibition and Conference Centre 9-11 May. REE will be present at the exhibition stand in the Casa de la Ciencia, with the exhibition "A highway behind the wall socket" and will collaborate with the Facultad de Ciencias de la Educación and the Instituto Carmen Laffón, from San José de La Rinconada (Seville), on projects regarding energy and climate change.
Students from the IES Carmen Laffón (Secondary school) at their exhibition stand will present the results of three experiments related to the production of heat and energy. Specifically, they will build a homemade Stirling engine using recycled materials: soft drink cans, bicycle wheel spokes, rubber tubing, strips of wood and various glues, plus some electrical splice chips and nylon thread. They will also demonstrate how to build a solar cooker and oven using only cardboard boxes, aluminum foil, newspaper and black paint.
Students of the Facultad de Ciencias de la Educación (Education Science University of Seville), will present the results of their research on climate change from a gender perspective, i.e. what it is exactly, its origins and consequences on both a local and global scale and how it affects different cultures and men and women differently. In order to do this, they will set up various activities related to the emission of CO2 into the atmosphere and the greenhouse effect, in addition to posing questions such as what would happen if the ice poles melt, what mode of transport is the most convenient to use to go to school and not contaminate, how citizens can use energy efficiently, etc.
