The demand for electrical energy on the Spanish peninsula in the month of December is estimated at 20,871 GWh, a decrease of 2.1% with respect to the same month last year. After factoring in the seasonal and working patterns, electrical energy demand on the peninsula grew 2.4% with regard to the figure for December 2014.
Throughout the whole of 2015, gross demand on the peninsula is estimated to be 248,000 GWh, a figure 1.8% higher than in 2014. After having factored in the influence of the seasonal and working patterns, electrical energy demand was 1.6% higher than that registered last year.
Using provisional data as at 30 December, production coming from wind power during the month reached 3,421 GWh, a value 25.9% lower than that registered in the same month last year, and represented 17.4% of the total production.
In the month of December, generation coming from renewable energy sources represented 28.6% of production.
50.5% of electricity generation during the month was obtained using technologies which produce zero CO2 emissions.
