26th El Granado Craft Fair (Huelva)

Red Eléctrica is committed to the local communities where its facilities are located by collaborating on actions that contribute to improving the well-being of people and their municipalities, and through support for the protection of basic needs, promotion of sport and healthy habits and the preservation of their culture.

Red Eléctrica supported the Craft Fair organised by El Granado Town Council and the Beturia Association of Municipalities in October 2019 to promote the historical, cultural and craft heritage values of the Sur Andévalo region in Huelva and Alentejo in Portugal.

This exhibition, held on 25, 26 and 27 October, enables people to establish bonds between neighbouring Hispanic-Portuguese towns and villages, through knowledge and cultural exchange and promoting shared cultural values.

The fair hosted over 30 exhibitors from Spanish and Portuguese companies and associations dedicated to various crafts, including ceramics, leather and hide, wood, metals and textiles, among others.

1st Bilbao Petronor Eco Rallye

Red Eléctrica collaborated in 2019 with the Biscay Royal Bikers Guild, at the 1st Petronor Bilbao Eco Rally, held on 11 October, where the efficiency and low consumption of participating vehicles was highlighted.

During the competition, 47 vehicles powered by alternative energies covered more than 600 km over three stages. The main new feature was the use of ultra-quick recharging stations. In addition, the longest single-day stage was introduced to demonstrate the energy range of electric vehicles.

Red Eléctrica maintains its commitment with local communities where its facilities are located, through actions that contribute to improvements in the well-being of people and their municipalities, by supporting the protection of basic needs, fostering sport and healthy lifestyle habits, and the conservation of their culture.

Red Eléctrica collaborated in 2020 with the Campo Adentro non-profit association, starting up the second edition of the Comunidad de Madrid Regional Government Shepherds’ School This training programme also has the backing of State Shepherds’ Association, schools from other regions and El Boalo Town Council, Madrid.

The project embraces the initial training of 55 young people in the skill of shepherding, as a source of employment and rural development in the region, with practical training held at the mountain regions of Sierra de Guadarrama and Sierra Norte. In addition, Red Eléctrica will be teaching a module on the relationship between flocks and power lines.

It is an initiative that collaborates with the sustainment of the rural environment and through which Red Eléctrica, backed by different local organisations, contributes to the response to the challenges set by a depopulated Spain.

Gira PRESURA 2019

Red Eléctrica maintains its commitment with local communities where its facilities are located, through actions that contribute to improvements in the well-being of people and their municipalities, by supporting the protection of basic needs, fostering sport and healthy lifestyle habits, and the conservation of their culture.

Red Eléctrica collaborated in 2019 with the El Hueco social entrepreneurship platform, accompanying the bus that travelled over 4,000 km around different towns, promoting the “Rural Pride” project and the PRESURA Fair, the National Fair for the Repopulation of Rural Spain.

The aim of this initiative is to create a collaborative network between village united in the fight against depopulation and to bring in entrepreneurs so they can discover that the rural environment is a world of opportunities for them to start up their ideas and businesses.

In addition, Red Eléctrica sponsored the 3rd National Fair for the Repopulation of Rural Spain, held from 8 to 10 of November in Soria, participating in round table debates on energy for rural sustainability and on social innovation and rural development. It also collaborated in the publishing of the fourth issue of the PRESURA magazine, published on 21 November and the setting up of a social innovation space in the town of Parades de Nava (Palencia).

In 2020, Red Eléctrica supported the COVID-19 Rural Hackaton, organised by El Hueco, held online in April, with the aim of identifying innovative ideas to provide solutions for close communities ,to help mitigate consequences the pandemic has had on rural Spain.

Red Eléctrica collaborated with AlmaNatura in 2019 to contribute to the launch of the “Hello Village” social innovation pilot project, that seeks to promote the creation of ecosystems to foster entrepreneurship and social innovation in scarcely populated rural areas, with the aim of connecting up people with entrepreneurial projects in a rural location, with villages willing to welcome them as new residents.

In collaboration with provincial governments in Burgos, Cuenca, Guadalajra, Huesca, Palencia, Soria and Teruel, 50 municipalities were selected according to predefined criteria. The initiative supports 20 entrepreneurs, with viable, sustainable and innovative business ideas, so that they and their families can settle in a village in these municipalities and carry out social projects.

Hacendera solar, the first community self-consumption model

Red Eléctrica maintains its commitment with local communities where its facilities are located, through actions that contribute to improvements in the well-being of people and their municipalities, by supporting the protection of basic needs, fostering sport and healthy lifestyle habits, and the conservation of their culture.

In 2019, Red Electrica along with the Megara Energía cooperative and Castilfrío de la Sierra Town Council, created the first rural energy community named “Hacendera Solar”, to equip the town’s municipal buildings with photovoltaic installations that will provide energy savings and a reduction in greenhouse gases.

This pilot scheme enables collective energy self-consumption and entails a participative model that involves the local population. In addition, it is a benchmark for performing similar projects in other Spanish rural regions.

The Altura town council (Castellón) reforestation project

Collaboration with municipalities for the recovery and improvement of green spaces.

Red Eléctrica collaborates with local communities where its facilities are located through actions of conservation of their natural environment, with the aim of promoting sustainable rural development and biodiversity conservation.

In 2019, Red Eléctrica collaborated with Altura Town Council (Castellón) in a biodiversity conservation project through the reforestation and restoration of degraded habitats due to forest fires.

The purpose of this initiative, which focuses on the recovery of 53 hectares of woodland in the municipality of Las Torrecillas-Puntal de Navarrete and the recreational area of Los Llanos de Gaetano, is to replant trees and restore the landscape and habitat for wildlife, and to protect the soil against erosion and the loss of nutrients and organic material.

The project includes the organisation of dissemination and environmental education activities to raise awareness among the local population in the importance of protecting natural spaces. With this natural heritage conservation campaign, Red Eléctrica underlines its commitment to sustainable biodiversity.

6th Edition Ribeiro Blues Wine Festival (Orense)

Red Eléctrica supported Castrelo de Miño Town Council in 2018 on the 5th edition of the Ribeiro Blues Wine Festival, held on 10 and 11 August in this municipality in Orense.

This annual festival, bringing together music, wine and gastronomy, is consolidated in Orense’s calendar of summer events, promoting the area and its main resource: the bodegas and the colleiteiros, boutique wineries, of the Appellation of Origin Ribeiro.

Red Eléctrica is committed to the local communities where its facilities are located by collaborating on actions that contribute to improving the well-being of people and their municipalities, and through support for the protection of basic needs, promotion of sport and healthy habits and the preservation of their culture.

In 2019, Red Eléctrica collaborated for the fourth consecutive year with Caldas Town Council in the Quente Culture Festival, which was held in the first half of July in the municipality in the province of Pontevedra.

This annual event brings together numerous representatives from the range of national bands, with visitors listening while enjoying the natural environment. The aim is to promote leisure actions while featuring the area’s natural and cultural resources and heritage. The festival also presents a full programme of additional activities every year, including workshops and exhibitions.

Red Eléctrica has collaborated with the Alonsotegi Town Council since 2018 to adapt public use facilities in the municipality in the province of Biscay, to improve neighbours’ lives and care for the environment.

Specifically, Red Eléctrica collaborated in the renovation of a playground situated alongside the stone bridge, improving the elements that make up this recreational area for young children.
