Agreement with the Universidad de Sevilla

Training in the field of energy.

Red Electrica collaborates with universities, training institutions and public administrations in order to support education and training through internships and participation in courses and workshops on the operation of the electrical systems, energy efficiency, intelligent networks and renewable energies, among others.

In January 2018, Red Eléctrica de España and the Universidad de Sevilla signed a collaboration agreement to create the Chair of Energy and Environmental Economics, the main objective of which is to promote teaching and interdisciplinary research activities linked to Energy and Environmental Economics that examine the reality, problems, and perspectives of new strategies and technologies in this field, while enhancing the resolved academic work relating to the infrastructure of electric power transmission.

The Chair also engages in consulting and knowledge transfer duties in fields such as energy, climate change, the socio-economic impact of various integrated technologies on the energy mix, the public promotion of these technologies, and the economic assessment of damage to respiratory health associated with environmental pollution.

Dual Training

Training in the field of energy.

Red Eléctrica collaborates with universities, educational institutions and government bodies to support education and training through practical training actions and participation in courses and workshops regarding the functioning of the electricity system, energy efficiency, smart grids and renewable energy, among others.

The first Dual Vocational Training promotion ended on December 17, 2019. Ten professionals achieved the qualification of Higher Technician of Power Plants, after a period of two years of theoretical and practical training given in the Integrated Vocational Training Centre (CIFP) of Industrial Technology of Leon and in the Red Eléctrica Campus.

Dual Vocational Training is a pioneering initiative led by the Red Eléctrica Group, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, the Junta de Castilla y León and the Regional Energy Agency (EREN), to have better prepared professionals that can meet the energy transition challenges in a sustainable way.

Red Eléctrica and the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and University of Tenerife manage of external curricular work experience for first degree and master’s degree students.

The purpose is to facilitate access to the labour market for future professionals and qualified people. It is aimed at young people who have completed their university studies or vocational training or are in their last year of studies.

In 2016, Red Eléctrica started a new collaboration with the University of Zaragoza with the goal of creating a permanent training framework through different joint activities such as student visits to Red Eléctrica’s facilities, support of Company personnel in the teaching programming and the development of initiatives in the field of research and innovation.

Red Eléctrica collaborates with universities, educational institutions and government bodies in order to support education and training through practical training actions and participation in courses and workshops regarding the functioning of the electricity system, energy efficiency, smart grids and renewable energy, among others.

Red Eléctrica participated in 2017, for the second consecutive year, in the Official Master’s degree in Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency, from the Technological Institute of Energy (ITE from its initials in Spanish) and the CEU-UCH University of Valencia.

The Official Master’s degree in Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency is aimed at university graduates with or without professional experience in the sector and its objective is to provide students with a comprehensive vision of the energy sector in technological, economic and legal areas, in addition to promoting team work and improving their employability.

Red Eléctrica collaborates on the Masters in Renewable Energy and Energy Sustainability organized by the University of Santiago de Compostela. Red Eléctrica collaborates by providing personnel of its offices in Galicia as teaching staff with the aim of providing a comprehensive and detailed view of the Spanish electricity system, the characteristics and peculiarities of its operation and the transmission of energy, and the difficulties and advantages that the integration of renewables into the electricity system has represented.

In the last years the collaboration also includes the visit of students and teacher staff to the Meson do Vento substation in La Coruña.

Since 2014 Red Eléctrica has collaborated with the University of La Laguna on the Master in Renewable Energy taught at the university. The Company participates by providing qualified staff to educate students on the functioning of the national electricity system, the role of the electricity transmission grid and the integration of renewable energy, putting special attention on the study of isolated electrical systems, such as those on the islands.

Complementary to the lectures, Red Eléctrica also facilitates a visit to transmission grid facilities.

Expert Course on Economics of Regulated Markets in the Carlos III University (Madrid)

Collaboration with universities on training in the field of energy.

A commitment of Red Eléctrica is the adequate training of new professionals of the sector, with the aim to develop and advance towards a sustainable energy model that meets the needs of citizens.

Red Eléctrica collaborates with the Carlos III University of Madrid in the Economics of Regulated Markets Expert Degree (specialty in Energy Economics). In addition, the Company offers content for the programme, facilitating the participation of some of the Company’s professionals as speakers. Both organisations have common and complementary objectives for promoting knowledge, whereby these courses offer the possibility of obtaining significant benefit from both teaching and research.

Red Eléctrica continued its sponsorship of two training programmes organised by the Carlos III University for 2018/2019.

This type of collaboration focuses on collaboration in activities in the chosen programmes, mainly by proposing content and by company professionals participating as speakers.

Red Eléctrica collaborates with universities, educational institutions and government bodies in order to support education and training through practical training actions and participation in courses and workshops regarding the functioning of the electricity system, energy efficiency, smart grids and renewable energy, among others.

Since 2012 Red Eléctrica, together with the Universities and Higher Education Foundation of Castilla y León, has organised an educational campus where students from the universities of Castilla y León participate alongside students from Vocational Training centres. Students receive training from experts in the areas of generation, electricity infrastructure, energy efficiency, smart grids and renewable energy, in addition to attaining knowledge regarding the keys to a sustainable energy model and the new trends in the electricity sector. Classes are supplemented with visits to the electricity facilities.

This initiative has already trained a total of 700 students from Castilla y León in the editions celebrated so far.
