Once again, the renowned Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) has recognised Redeia—the parent company of Red Eléctrica, Reintel, Hispasat, Redinter, and Elewit—as one of the most sustainable companies globally. In this index, released on December 8, the company has received an overall score of 83 out of 100, thereby consolidating its presence in this worldwide recognised benchmark.

The analysis conducted by S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment of Redeia's role in environmental, social, and governance issues has resulted in the global essential infrastructure manager achieving the highest score (100 points) in six of the areas analysed: transparency and reporting, materiality, innovation management, emissions, privacy protection, and engagement with stakeholders. Additionally, they have received positive recognition in other aspects such as waste, climate strategy, and human rights, among others.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Index, a variant of the NY Dow Jones Index, is formed by companies that demonstrate superior performance compared to their peers under social, environmental, and economic criteria. This index has become a key benchmark for socially responsible investors.

A comprehensive impact strategy for a sustainable future

‘The inclusion of Redeia in the DJSI once again highlights Redeia's ongoing efforts to ensure that the activities of all our subsidiaries contribute to building a more sustainable future, respectful of people and the planet,’ says Eva Pagán, Corporate Director of Sustainability and Research. She adds, ‘Companies not only need to generate value for the P&L, which is important, but we are also responsible for bringing something good to the communities in which we operate and to all our stakeholders.’

Redeia reflects its commitment to the environment in its Sustainability Plan 2023-25, which has recently led to the definition of a Comprehensive Impact Strategy. The goal of this strategy is to multiply its social and environmental contribution across geographies and business areas in Spain and Latin America.
