Marine interpretive centre ‘Aula del Mar’ (Palma de Mallorca)

Red Eléctrica holds exhibitions and workshops in museums with the objective of publicising how the Spanish electricity system functions and raising public awareness regarding an efficient and responsible consumption of electricity in order to promote a sustainable energy model.

In 2016, Red Eléctrica began collaboration with the Regional Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Fisheries of the Government of the Balearic Islands to promote environmental education activities at the Aula del Mar, an interpretive centre regarding the marine environment, located in Palma.

The ‘Aula del Mar’ is a centre for dissemination of marine knowledge that makes a set of interpretative elements and activities related to the marine environment available to the educational community and to the general public.

Added to this educational offer in 2017 was Red Eléctrica’s Marine Forest, a project for reforestation of a Posidonia oceanica meadow in the Balearic Islands, which the company will carry out in collaboration with the Regional Ministry of the Environment.

This environmental action will be the result of an R&D&i project, on the cultivation of posidonia under laboratory conditions and on the design of a reforestation methodology, which Red Eléctrica has carried out with the Mediterranean Institute of Advanced Studies (IMEDEA).
